After much last minute packing we finally pulled out of Saugus at 8:35 am on Saturday. Granny and Poppy (Mirissa's parents) spent the night so they were there to wish us farewell and slip back into the now quiet house and enjoy a cup of coffee. Sorry guys, we cancelled the paper!Aahh, we're over the Grapevine and into the Central Valley. It doesn't feel like the beginning of a long driving vacation until you enter the vast straight stretches of farmland.BURP!"Charlotte are you OK?""Yes."Cough Gag"Are you sure you're OK? How's your tummy?""It's good"BLAHG, GLUG, SPLAT"Julia give her the bucket!!!">>>9:15am-Stop #1. Change of clothes; car cleanup .---We weren't going to let them watch a video in the car until much later but since Charlotte wasn't feeling well we decided an early matinee might be needed. BAMBI II. A movie which follows the adventures of Bambi and his father on their journey to leave the sweet deer to live with some distance acquintance of Bambi's dead Mom so Babmbi's dad can get on with his duties servicing his deer harem. The kids loved it. (Spoiler coming...!!) The dad comes around in the end and all is well.We lunched at Carl's JR. We pulled in right before a tour bus load of Russian babushka tourists. Mirissa and the girl's got stuck behind them in line for the bathroom. It's a huge Carl's Jr, but the bathroom only has 3 stalls and one Babushka practically took up 2!
Finally at around 6pm, we pulled into the Railroad Motel and Campgound for our nights sleep in a caboose. We were real hobos that night. The motel is basically 14 cabooses tucked in a wooded area that have been converted into rooms.
Ours had a queen bed, a bunk bed, another twin size bed and a full bathroom. It was great. Very cute. The cabooses circle a nice little pool and spa.

There is a babbling brook that runs through the grounds and a dining car that had great food. The kids played, built little dams in the brook and had a great time

So in the picture with the helicopter, is that a person or some equipment?

The Helicopter was carrying a guy up to a high tension power tower. They were actually stringing new wires across the freeway. The helicopter would hook the end of the wire and fly it across.
